I have a Burnham boiler that is over 15 years old.I was just told by a repair man that the oil pump is bad. He quoted $ to repair it but I am seeing the part online for between $ & $. The estimate seems very high for installation. Can anyone give me any guidance?

Tell me. When you have a mechanic replace say a fuel injection pump on your car, do you pay for the part? Or do you also pay for the mechanics knowledge and tools and time to get it properly installed and adjusted?
An oil pump on a boiler isn't plug and play. It's not an iPump...Br. Jamie, osb

Pricing is a regional thing. Around here some companies charge more than that and some less. It's not a simple parts swap. The pump requires special tools to setup correctly. A combustion analysis with a digital combustion analyzer is required after the new pump is installed.
You can buy a steak from a butcher shop for a lot less money than you pay for it at a good restaurant....0 -
To me, it sounds like this guy wants you to pay for one heck of a steak dinner FOR HIM.
