    Trane XP80 oil fired hot air oil furnace draft over the fire is at -04wc, but it should be -02wc, even after doing all adjustments with draft regulator. Any advise on what could be causing it.

    @Arismendy

    Are you checking the draft reading with the furnace firing or is it off? Is the barometric damper wide open?

    Draft reading with furnace firing and barometric damper is not completely open. If it’s completely open, it will bring draft at the breech to -0 wc

    Jamie is correct - you're within adjustable range as is with what you have now. If you couldn't achieve -.02 with the damper wide open, you'd have to cut in another one.

    If the damper is in good shape, you should be able to achieve -.02, but sometimes their either dirty or just shot.

    If the weight won't adjust to fully open, then the weight is in the wrong location (vertical vs horizontal), it's not plumb and level, or the regulator is in the wrong location.

    The weight is on the horizontal position and level. Undoubtedly the draft over the fire is the most important draft measurements, but the draft at the breech should be around -03-04 wc and it won’t be if it’s wide open. I can get the draft over the fire to -02 wc but once again the the at the breech will be -0 wc. Should I just leave it at that

    No way you get -.02 O.F. and 0 breach. You mean 0 O.F. and -.02 breach.

    You originally stated the over fire was .-04. And you're saying you can get 0 by fully opening the regulator, but you can't get -.02 over fire with the weight? Maybe you need to talk nice to it. Maybe take it out to dinner. Say I love you once in a while. And most of all, find the sweet spot. Sometimes they say horizontal when they really mean vertical.

    What's the breach draft with the regulator fully closed?

    Chimney is clear and drafting properly?

    If the boiler is supposed to be a negative -.02 (over fire) when firing, then the breech draft must be higher than that (more negative) because there is pressure drop through the boiler.

    Get the burner running and set the draft at -.02. Then check combustion , then check draft. Rinse and repeat until you get everything set right. and forget about the breech draft
