Boiler won’t fire

Hello everyone. So I had a thermocouple go bad, I was at work so I had a tech guy come over and replace it in a 95 gas crown boiler. By the time I got back he asked me about the roll out switch hanging off, I told him it goes in the bottom of the boiler - long story short.. The sensor/resistor (not sure what it is called) touched the metal on the boiler side and sparked. The boiler will not fire since but the pilot flame is still lit.

Changed the gas valve, new roll out switch up top and bottom. Called someone and he said most likely the transformer in the aquastat went bad. He said to replace that.

It is a honey well l8148E-1216 .. I’m having trouble finding this exact model, can I replace it with the l8148E-1265 or the l8148E-1257? A tech wanted to charge me 900 just to replace the box but it looks pretty straight forward

Things need to be tested. How do you know its a bad aquastat?

We jumped the damper plug, the thermostat and it still won’t fire but the pilot flame is still lit. I had an electrician come and he had said the transformer is no good and emitting more volts than needed? So I’m not 100% sure but I figured I’d change it. Any suggestions?

If it is the aquastat, Im not sure which aquastat to get between the l8148E-1265/1257? Any guidance or help is appreciated. Thanks

I wonder what else got fried when that shorted? The transformer putting out more volts than needed sounds very fishy -- that's a possible, but very uncommon failure in a transformer -- but it is likely that it did fry. Question is, what else did at the same time? You may be looking at a whole new control.

Moral of the story: don't mess with electrical devices when the circuit is hot, unless you know exactly what you are doing and take extreme care.

I’m looking to change the whole control box. Was looking at the Honeywell L8148E-1265 or 1257. Just not sure which one to go with after doing some research but I don’t have 900 bucks to cough up to the tech to change it. Figured I cut the power from the breaker and just change it myself
