Obsolete Gas Valve

I have 23 YO Crown boiler with a Honeywell gas valve(VR8305M2177) is not functioning and when it came to replace, the valve is obsolete and no longer available. Both Honeywell and Crown was no help in suggestions of what would be a suitable gas replacement valve. any suggestion on valve to use short of replacing entire boiler?

What model Crown? Can you post a pic?

VR8305M3506 may be a suitable replacement.

I find it hard to believe that Crown's tech support could not help.

What model Crown Boiler do you have?

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

@EdTheHeaterMan , I suspect this is some sort of direct-spark ignition system. Might be on a conversion burner- Carlin's EZ-Gas Pro uses a similar valve.

They might have been unwilling to answer depending on how the question was asked since replacing a gas valve with a regulator is not a diy project.

the Boiler is a Crown CSC-200. according to Velocity(who manufactures Crown) honeywell produced the valves for them specifically for this boiler. and now dont make it. when i call Hoenywell they tell me to call the OEM(Crown) to see if they have a replacement valve. neither firms has an answer for a replacement valve. Hard to believe no one can provide a replacement valve as i would think this is something simple. any other suggestions. like i said boiler is in great shape other than the valve situation.

Pictures of the gas valve and the entire gas train piping would probably help.

Have you tried talking to a professional HVAC person? I can well understand why a company would not be willing to sell a gas valve to someone without training and licensing -- replacing one, never mind adjusting it, is not a do it yourself project.

R.E. Michel sells a VR8305 that should work. Your service company should be able to get it from them. They do not sell to homeowners.

    That's a 2-stage valve- won't work on this unit.

absolutely not DIYing i have a HVAC contractor also working on this and having same issue trying to find a replacement valve. When i spoke to Velocity they did suggest a VR8345M4302 however looking at this valve it doesnt appear it will connect from the outlet side(no screw set for gas fitting to screw into the valve. he also noted that "M" is critical meaning it's a series with quick opening valve.

Needs to be done by gas burner mechanic. Have them contact Honeywell contractor tech support. They will help with matching up the specs for the regulator, capacity etc and usually come up with a functional replacement for their valve. Has to be done by qualified tech.
    Good luck

Manual for boiler here. Crown part number for original gas valve is 35-7600.

This is a specialty niche...not a hobby or something an average HVAC tech, Plumber or pipefitter can do.  Mad Dog 🐕
