Main venting

Have a small one pipe steam system, had the main vent changed a year ago. Vent functions as I can hear it pushing air out of the main and closing when full of steam. I have been fine balancing the system and fixing small leaks. System is functioning well, however I noticed the plumber put a cheapo maid o mist type main vent.
Should I bother changing to a Gorton #2 to possibly get better reliability and performance or should I leave the vent? Sometimes when it isn’t broken you shouldn’t fix it…

Gorton are the Gold Standard, Hoffman are well made too..The rest?? Ehh. Swap it out do u have the Height? You could always make a mini battery of Gorton #1s...Much Shorter. Mad Dog 🐕0

How long is the main, and what pipe size? What model Maid-o-Mist is there now?All Steamed Up, Inc.

It’s a 2.5 inch insulated main that runs 32 feet and I have a picture of the box

Vent is at the end of main. Plenty of clearance for something tall0

Yeah, that one's too small. Put on a Gorton #2, with a 3/4"x1/2" bushing so it will fit the 3/4" hole where the M-o-M is now.All Steamed Up, Inc.

Stick with Gorton's over no name vents, you will be much better off in the long term.0

Who knows who makes it. A search leads you to "World & Main, LLC

If this main is heating fast I wouldn't change it but when it needs changing use a Gorton1 -
I might stick with vent until it dies and replace with Gorton 1 because I have heat arriving at every radiator/convector on two floors at almost the exact same time.
I know venting the main as fast as possible is always recommended, but if I add a Gorton 2 with a bushing, is there a chance I throw the system off balance? When I bought the house it had a Hoffman main vent which was stuck open. Believe that vent is one of the slowest…1 -
Just return it...Why put something in with a minimal life? A Gorton #2 will expel much more air meaning less fuel burned. Spitting vents can scald someone and do water damage! ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️. Mad Dog0
