Lochinvar Recalls Residential Boilers for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Risk

The boiler manufacturer Lochinvar has recalled about 17,370 residential condensing boilers, combi boilers, and packaged boiler systems sold in the U.S. under the brand names Lochinvar, A.O. Smith, and State Industries. About 782 units also were sold in Canada.

The boiler’s flue collector, a component that collects and channels flue gases, can crack if exposed to a high-impact event in the burner chamber. That can cause the boiler to emit carbon monoxide (CO), posing a risk of CO poisoning.

More info here.

This is not good, but atleast they caught it.  This is why EVERY boiler installer & service personnel MUST own a Combustion Analyzer and know how to use it.!  Mad Dog 🐕

  • Thanks, Erin. I have 3 customers who's boilers are effected that I'll be getting in touch with.

This is why it's important to keep serial numbers of the boilers you work on in your data base.

I'm wondering if my supplier picks this up and will alert me?

    Thank you Erin..
Hopefully they will create a "Reverse 911" on this. We registered all of our installs with Lochinvar so the Ball >>>Should<<< be in their court.

Thanks for the info Erin. I have three in service in tenant occupied homes but those were purchased in 2019. It's good to know that Lochinvar knows the exact number of boilers affected. That's some good record keeping!

Its a Real kick in the gut when this happens to "Your Go To Boiler," but as long as Lochinvar sqaures it up, that's all you can ask.  I'm sure they will.  Mad Dog 🐕
