Damaged Threads

Hi. Just had my steam radiator sandblasted and powder coated. Before I did, I removed the spud and capped all the openings as to not get any debris into the radiator. However, I didn’t realize that when I cut the spud (using a sawzall) I cut into the threads of the reducer bushing. Didn’t notice it until I hooked it all back up and it was leaking water all over the floor. My plan now was to remove the reducer bushing unless anyone here could give me any better and easier ideas. Thanks !

I’d suggest if you’re going to cut the bushing out, you might already be almost though it now and be extremely careful if you cut more.0

Make sure the tapping in the radiator isn't left hand thread. Sometimes it is in radiators that were assembled with left-right nipples.0

If the threading is left hand would ALL the threading be left hand? For example, my vent is right hand, would it be safe to assume this reducer is also right hand?Bomba said:mattmia2 said:Make sure the tapping in the radiator isn't left hand thread. Yeah, that bushing has to go can't save that one. Go slow and take your time.0
