Tankless coil mixer valve

On a new install, with a tankless coil, I see no automatic mixing valve, but a manual gate valve.
With low and high limits set on 160 and 180 respectively, how is a safe DHW temperature regulated?
Thank you

A Picture would help to verify...but that's temperature blending from 50 years ago!  You need a Watts or Taco Domestic How water mixing valve....and a thermometer Guage in the mixed outlet is ideal.  Mad Dog 🐕

A gate valve? Those must be either fully open or fully closed. Before thermostatic mixing valves became required / standard, a globe valve was normally used as appropriate for throttling service.

A 520 Caleffi is ideal for  tankless and tankless coil.  Fast responding  and if it loses hot or cold, it shuts down.

There is no mixing valve. How is the DHW being maintained at a safe temperature?

It's not. The hand valve is old school, run the hot water and manually adjust the hand valve unitl its tempered down.
Today 120°F is maximum for point of use.
