I have a combi unit and keep getting a 54 code! Do I need a pressure reducing valve and if so for what pressure?

Both NYC born...Gwynn,  US Navy WW II, Harvard..died Young 66. Grandpa was always a Card.  In Yeshiva he was known to ask "annoying questions" of his teachers...Love those guys.  Mad Dog .
