Williamson Boiler Cast Iron Block Help

My Williamson model Williamson GWC-105-N-T-52 gas boiler is leaking.  Had a tech out and he said the cast iron block is cracked (I think that is what he called it).  I called Williamson and they don't make the part anymore (boiler installed 9 years ago).  Can I use a different manufacturers part?  Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you

    Hello @extremenovice,

    Well, seems the cast Iron heat exchanger has a 20 year warranty. 9 years ago was there a 20 year warranty ? Maybe you need a second opinion as to what is actually leaking, or a lawyer if the warranty needs honoring.

    But to your question -- can I use a different block? Well, no. The block is the essential heart of the boiler.

    Right? The 20 year warranty is on the original paperwork.  Seems they would. Of continued to make the part for warranty purchases.  Maybe the girl on the phone was incorrect.

    This might be the same as the Weil-McLain GV boiler:

    I think they bought Williamson so you might be right.  Those parts may work!  Not sure how much labor is though.  Tech said it's a terrible job to do.

    @extremenovice

    Williamson does not make boilers. They buy Weil Mclain boilers and put the Williamson name on it.

    Weil Mclain GV 90 looks like the same boiler and it's still made as @Steamhead pointed out

    That would be amazing. The lady at Williamson just said we don't make the part. We will compensate for what it would of cost and prorate the warranty.  I was like so you're telling me I just have to go buy a new boiler.  She said yes.   I knew it didn't sound right on many levels.  Any idea on labor cost to replace one of those?

    Btw you all are fantastic and very much appreciated.

    We can't talk prices here.

    I would suggest trying to find a local contractor familiar with that boiler. You could also check "find a contractor" on this site.

    Also post the city you are in and someone on here may know someone they could recommend.
