    So you can read the manufactures name which is usually below the 12. Same thing with wrist and pocket watches.

    Also, IIRC, there is a subliminal reason. Perhaps because of the "V" for victory from WW2. Churchill waving the "V" fingers at that time.

    Even the Morse code sound for the letter V has positive connotations.

    As a boomer who has learned and forgotten most of the Morse Code, that is one that sticks in your mind.

    So I would never buy a clock that didn't display a positive feature. ;)
