Electric slab heat thermostat Smith-Gates

I bought a place that has electric heat in basement slab. The slab and now room temp is rising and it won’t shut off. Turned off breakers. Want to change out the smith-gates stat what can I use

That may be a very interesting project. It looks to me (I can't find the literature on that thermostat) that that may be the variety with a capillary to the sensor buried in the slab,
You could substitute any good 240 VAC double pole thermostat for it, but you would lose tight control of the slab temperature.Br. Jamie, osb
