I've never had to take one of these apart before. My customer was getting an E4 (no flame signal) error message. The burner would ignite, but then immediately extinguish. After 4 or 5 tries, error out. Checked combustion air, gas pressure, etc. and it all checked out. The last thing to do was open up the boiler and check the fire side for any problems.

Before and after pictures of the combustion side. It was all clogged up with years of combustion muck, some of which was as hard as concrete. Eventually with all the buildup, air could not pass and combustion could not be sustained.
