My buddy at work Mikey recommended this product..."Rub & Buff" Thicker than the stuff in jar that cost me 30 bucks...Much brighter and richer...Love it..8 bucks...Ill be doing the Rads I recently had done ...practice on these. Mad Dog 🐕0

Lovely. I wonder how it effects the thermal emissivity. I wonder how real gold leaf would affect the thermal emissivity.0

That's not leaf, leaf is a process where you apply glue then apply a sheet of gold or imitation gold to the glue then brush off the excess. But the paint looks good.0

I'm a plumber...but I ain't Rich...This is MY
Version of "Gold Leaf." It came out really nice and its better than the paint I paid $30 bucks for a tiny jar. Yeah I'm very happy with it, thanks! I'm going for the bootleg Gucci Bag, here...Emmisivity....Not concerned, when 212 hits the Cast Iron it gets plenty hot and only the raised filigree scrolling gets "leafed." Mad Dog1 -
I looked up the thermal emissivity of real gold leaf. It's much less than black paint. A pity. A gold radiator would look so nice!0

They're usually oversized anyway, go for it

I do believe the color of the radiator can affect BTU output, but I've never seen a radiator of any color or layers of paint that didn't crank out heat on full fire...Mad Dog0

You definitely can get some tips on your artifacts with preservation with the Fact Sheets written by the conservation dept. of the Henry Ford Museum.
Here's the link to page

Here's a link to "Iron" , it's a .pdf and pretty much geared towards what you're doing now

A interesting resource irregardless.. enjoy
One way to get familiar something you know nothing about is to ask a really smart person a really stupid question1
