6A code. Cleaned, new gas valve. Tech who was here could not get to run long enough to analyze so put old valve with new selenoid on. Only fires/ runs if I choke blower intake air with tape. First time no heat is called for and then is called for doesn't fire unless I reset and choke. Any ideas???

This boiler is very sensitive to air/fuel mixture. Maybe look at the venturi and see if it needs replacing. I did this in a 15-yr. old GB142/45 showing a 6A code. I also replace various gaskets that wore out. The plastic snorkel intake tube also broke when I dismantled it. So I got a new one of those. Problem was fixed.

Why a new gas valve?
Have you checked the trap and drain for blockage?
How about the flame rod and igniter?
