    In the early 80's my plumbing salesman told me of the Genova PVC rep promoting their product when the

    standard was copper DWV, CI etc.

    The rep assured the wholesaler that "this product (PVC) would never be in the retail market".

    IMO, the early solvent and cleaner was not up to the job and also not applied correctly.
    People did not understand the principle of solvent welding, thought they were simply glueing.

    Those gave the system a bad rap right away.

    BTW, ...no one mentioned "Blazing Saddles".........
