Boiler Efficiency - 25 year old Copper Tube Boiler

I was in a boiler room the other day and there was some 25 year old Raytherm E724 WTB-N natural draft copper tube boilers. The book efficiency rating is 80%. Has anyone measured the efficiency of such a boiler. The room was really hot and I was thinking that there is no way the boilers are 80% efficient.

If they have been kept maintained and clean, there's no reason why they shouldn't be as efficient as new. Of course, if they are poorly maintained, all bets are off.

The nice warm boiler room is probably the result of missing insulation.

I've combustion tested some Teledyne Laars copper boilers that were almost that old recently and the combustion efficiency was above 80%.
