Radiator/pipe banging

Do improper radiator vent sizes contribute to banging? Recently replaced a maid o mist #4 with a vent rite to allow slower steam to that radiator and now on cooling off  I get a little thump sound from somewhere (hard to isolate if from radiator or pipe).Did not have any bangs prior to the change.
I also tried a different vent rite to make sure that one wasn't broke.

Unlikely. The #4 is already really really small--if a radiator with a #4 on it is too hot too soon I'd just put a blanket on it.

I think you didn't notice the bump before but after changing the vent you are more vigilant and looking for a cause

Does it hurt to have a radiator pitched to much?

Past a certain point it doesn't help...I think the only real concern I would have is the amount of stress on the supply piping or the valve union.

Why did you want to reduce the already-very-slow venting rate of this radiator?

Because its in a small room that has 3 interior walls and stays pretty warm and gets about 2-3 degrees hotter then the rest of the house.

OK very good, yeah try the blanket.

but to reiterate to your actual question, I don't think the vent caused your thump.

Or even try rotating the vent upside down to disable it from passing air (the MoM will work for this, and most others)
