Rug Buddy Fix or Another Under Carpet Heater Type Recommended?

We bought a Rug Buddy 3x5 foot electric heater for heating our area rug a few years ago. Similar to an electric blanket with 165 watt input. Worked fine while it lasted, but after 7 heating seasons at 1-2 hours/day for 3 months each winter (about 200-300 hours of total run time), it started clicking several times per second at the plug. We bought a replacement plug to try and fix it, but now the clicking stops & it won't turn on.

Any advice on fixing it, or recommendations for another product we can use in the living room to warm up the floor under our large area rug?

Never try to fix those things. Or, for that matter, electric blankets, heating pads, and such like. Fire hazard from wonky wiring is just too great.

Best be -- find a nice new one and get it.

There are plenty of home build options with electric radiant mats, but you probably want something designed for and UL listed for piece of mind?
