HONEYWELL S86U inernal error

I installed an S86U when I first installed a Peerless gas atmospheric boiler in 2013 & it lasted until 07/11/22. We had to replace it again on 10/04/22.

Nothing with the boiler has changed

Is this just a case of a bad S86U or could something else cause this?

I have searched this site and GOOGLE, but no one seems to have any good reasons

    Nothing I know of. Hopefully it's under warranty. They don't make anything like they used to

    If it happens again... then it is not the control. Look for a chaffed wire or something that may be causing overcurrent. Did your customer add a smart thermostat just before the first failure?
    Could a staple in a wire you put in 2013 finally wear thru somewhere?
    Ware and tare. or is it spelled wear a tear Oh stop crying!
