    power to weight ratio, is what determines 1/4 mile times. This graph, assumes perfect conditions, no tire or clutch slip, fast shifts. Here is the horsepower to get you there.

    When one thinks back to those grand old days, the wonder is that we could run as fast as we did (I quoted 10 second times, but I doubt I ever really was that fast! Memory has a way of doing that...)(Lady, my Buick GS, was 3200 pounds and that 401 really did put down 340 honest horses at the wheels -- so 12.5 or so is probably about right). Considering the tires we ran and the transmissions (fast shifts? Even with a Hurst they were pretty slow!). The only good thing was the clutches didn't slip, at least not much -- but they took a strong left foot to disengage!

    That power to weight chart doesn't go to 6000lbs. :( 

    Supposedly my 13 f150 has 360 horses galloping under the hood. But it wasn't geared to jump off the line.
