Have you checked with BOCH tech support about this application?

Look like you have to order it directly from BOCK per chart at SUPPLYHOUSE.COM.

Are you a tech or do you have a tech to set this up? It isn't just a bolt it on and hook it up sort of affair.

Carlin doesn't list a set up for the 51 EC
How old? If it's too old, you might just want to switch it to a regular gas water heater, but proper set up and testing is a must, like @mattmia2 stated.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

I've never been asked to do such a thing. Now that I think about it, in my 38 years out there, I don't think I've ever laid eyes on a residential water heater with a gas power burner. And my long term memory is good. It's the frontal lobe that's a little toasted.
I'm assuming the space heat is a furnace, otherwise an indirect would be the obvious route.
Can I ask why you would invest in a power burner over an atmospheric gas water heater? It seems against the norm. Most, if they're converting, it's an atmospheric or an on demand.

As someone who has installed over 3,500 Gas Conversion burners I have done what you are looking to do with permission from the manufacturers both the Conversion Burner company and the water heater manufacturer. If you could post a picture of the unit you are looking to convert it would be helpful.

A phone call to Carlin or Bock would solve the issue

Bock says they are compatible however I would like to verify if anyone has personally done this successfully or has had issues as this is not the most common use of the conversion kit

If Bock is Ok with it, then you're ok.

I would try to obtain from Bock or Carlin the burner specs and orifice size used etc.

Like @Tim McElwain wrote, getting the ok from both Bock and Carlin is key. I don't see that model Bock listed in Carlin's OEM spec guide but I'm sure they can help with orifice drill size and initial settings. Final adjustments must be done with a combustion analysis.

bock sells a carlin conversion kit specifically for this  model (51ec) I can post a screenshot with it but it’s hard to understand how they cannot be okay with it if they are the one selling it

I fail  To see how they can sell this product and not be OK with it

    @Uri

No one knows everything. This is probably not the most common install. If Bock advertises it it must be ok as long as it is set up right.

Appreciate the feedback hopeful there is someone here that may have done this kind of conversion

I have been on the Bock site off and on since I got mine 20 years ago. They once sold those tanks with a choice of oil or gas. If you poke around long enough you will fine references to tanks with the oil or gas burner. If you follow the links, the gas units are not there. Looks to me like there have gone in a different direction. Like a lot of things, no old timers around to remember that it was a regular thing.
