Radiator Clang. What causes it?

Hello,
What causes steam radiators to make occasional clanging noises?
(It's a different sound than the loud banging of steam coming in contact with water.)
Thank you.

Water or the radiator expanding. something slippery under the feet like pieces of a milk bottle. or the pipe could be rubbing if the hole in the floor is too small

If the valve has a flat disc, the disc could have come loose or has broken off from the stem.
