Photos of one pipe steam column radiators converted from steam to hot water

Does anyone have pictures of a one-pipe column type (sections connected only at bottom) steam radiator that has been converted to hot water?
I am interested to see what what the second return pipe attachment would look like as well as the air vent that would have to be added to the top of each section.
I've seen this picture:
from this post, but I don't understand how it works. Shouldn't all the holes be connected together some how, maybe with a length of pipe?
