In setting a vaporstat, what is a good, initial setting...and where do you go from there?

It's an experiment. You want the cut in as low as possible. You want the cut out just high enough to get the steam to the radiators. To work right you need good steam traps and good venting. That is the secret to kepping the pressure low and controlibel0

I swapped out my Honeywell pressuretrol with a Honeywell vaporstat back in September, 2020, I initially set it at 10 ounces with the differential set at 4 ounces. The gauge shows approximately 10 on the cut out and 6 on the cut in. Should the cut out be higher and/or the cut in be lower? I haven't touched it since I initially set it.0

If it's heating ok then don't raise the cut out. You could widen the differential if the boiler is short cycling to give it a longer cycle0
