What is the correct way to calculate convector square footage?

If you can't find the unit in Every Darn Radiator, you can come pretty close, but it's tedious.
First, measure a fin -- length and height. Get the area Now measure the pipe diameter that goes through the fin and get it's area and subtract. Double the result, since the fin radiates on both sides. Count the number of fins per inch, multiply by the overall finned length, multiply by the area of one fin and convert to square feet.
That will be close. It won't be exact, for a variety of reasons. But close.Br. Jamie, osb
