I was replacing a pilot assembly on an LP gas fireplace, that has both a powerpile, and a thermocouple that attach to the gas valve. I was wondering what is the purpose of the thermocouple, if the pilot assembly already has a powerpile? I am used to see one, or the other but not both There is no external power supply for the fireplace, the pilot assembly does it all. Any suggestions or insight would be much appreciated. thanks to all.

Thats what I was thinking, but both connect to the same gas valve. Only one valve in the fireplace0

Simpler gas valve design, same valve for millivolt and 24vac, just change the solenoid and connect a transformer or thermopile depending on model.0

The gas valve is a Robertshaw. The fireplace is a heatglo model# 6000TRLP-oak serial# 00289519, and yes it has a glassfront0

What is the model number of the Robertshaw valve?
