I have a 10 year old Honeywell L7224 AquaStat and I am unable to set the "High Limit" any lower than 180F.

Well if you’re doing right then the aquastat is bad, or you’re not doing it right.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

If you want to lower the high limit, you need to lower the low limit first. Keep 20° between the two.

Device will not allow changes to low limit.  Automatically adjusts to a -15 differential from the HL temp.

    Adjusting Settings
To discourage unauthorized changing of Aquastat
settings, a procedure to enter the ADJUSTMENT mode
is required. To enter the ADJUSTMENT mode, press
the UP, DOWN, and I buttons (Refer to Fig. 5)
simultaneously for three seconds. Press the I button

Have tried going into maintenance mode.  Seems like the HL range is 180 to 220F.  Cannot change LL as it automatically adjusts to -15 of HL.  Everything works fine other than that.  Just trying to save money on fuel by reducing run time to high temperature.

What are the numbers after L7224?
There are probably different versions of the same model and yours isn't adjustable.

No number or letter.  Just L7224/L7228
