Got a call for a bad heat exchanger. Picked up the new kit and headed to it.
I found a boiler that hasn't been as much as breathed on in the last 10 years.
It was STILL running. It had a hole in the bottom of the heat exchanger. The bolts that hold the burner cover plate were loose and it had burned a hole on the side of the front cover. But the thing that really got me was the condition of the igniter that still worked!! It had a 7/8" gap!! I told the customer it may be good to at the very least to get on a 5 year maintenance program... yes, I was tongue in cheek with that.
