Well mine is in the apartment I've been living in for 3 years and it's vented. But the flame is more orange. Can you adjust the air intake to fix the problem?

You can clean the burner and see if that helps. Get rid if the lint and dust that accumulated around the burner and air inlet. If you are comfortable with removing the actual burner, (it may require disconnecting some gas pipe), then knock all the rust out of it and vacuum clean all the burner openings. If you are not comfortable doing than then call a pro.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Orange flames could also be caused by an ultrasonic humidifier, which can add a significant amount of minerals to the air, depending on the mineral content of the water. A quick test would be to turn it off for a while & see what happens to the color of the flames. The solution would be using purified water in the humidifier; or switching to an evaporative type.0
