PEX-AL-PEX replacement on hot water boiler - pitch question

Is there any concern with pitch when replacing the steel piping with the PEX-AL-PEX ? Many existing horizontal steel lines I've seen have a slight pitch to them on the return to the boiler in the basement. Does the PEX also need this downward pitch? Looking to replace with steel pipes PEX to clear up head room issue in basement.

Assuming that the original piping which you are replacing was not related to gravity hot water, the only real concern is that you have to have a way to reliably drain the pipes. This doesn't mean they need to have a pitch, but it does mean that they can't have sags or dips.
