You can run cast iron baseboard on steam, BUT running it as 1 pipe is fraught with issues due to the relatively small passages and pipe size. In addition you have to slope it appropriately across the wall for the gravity drain which, depending on length, can look weird.

Typically if it's done and works, it's done as 2 pipe.

We've had plenty of people come on this forum having issues with them, personally I wouldn't ever do it.

You need to better explain your need and the type of system you are inquiring about. You can buy cast iron baseboard for 2 pipe steam or Finned tube radiation for both 1 and 2 pipe steam systems. If you are asking about cast iron baseboard for a 1 pipe steam system, it is not recommended but I have seen it done with very poor performance and a lot of noise.

Note that you can make a 2 pipe section in a 1 pipe system to support a baseboard radiator.

And I might add... what is meant by "gravity steam"?

CI baseboard will work on steam but only if hooked up two pipe IMHO
