Capping off unused vertical steam radiator riser

I have a vertical steam riser pipe that isn't going to be used in the new configuration of my renovation. Initially I was just going to cap it off. The exposed portion of the pipe would clear the finished floor enough so that a cap could be adequately threaded on.
But I needed to shim up the floor in that area. So now the cap can only get about 3/8" of thread on.
I'm thinking I'll put a coupling on and plug the pipe. Just wanted to get a 2nd pair of eyes on this before I proceed.
This is a laundry closet.
Thanks.

That should work fine. Put the coupling on before you raise the floor. All Steamed Up, Inc.
