Vaporstat sticking ?

Vaporstat set at 0 oz. and diff. at 8oz. Problem is the Vaporstat does not shut off burner and pressure keeps building. If I tap the Vaporstat when it is above 8oz. The burner turns off, and restarts as normall at 0 oz. Is there a way to unstick the Vaporstat, or do I just bite the bullet and replace it?

Try setting the cutin to 4 ounces. A cutin at 0 can have rather bizarre results -- although the most common one is the opposite of the problem you describe; on occasion the vapourstat will not restart the burner.
Also check with a reliable low pressure gauge. The vapourstat may simply be out of calibration (in fact, if it reliably restarts with a cutin of 0, I suspect it is, perhaps markedly so).Br. Jamie, osb

Make sure your pigtail and the piping into the boiler is clear0
