Have a concrete pool 5" deep and 240 sq feet of surface. Adding a 800 sq foot patio around it and want to run plastic under concrete. Any ideas if this will work

what are the ambient temperatures that you need heat for a pool in Mexico?
You want to use the patio slab as a solar collector?

The PVC roof collectors are so effective in warmer climates, not sure using a slab would be worth it.
Can you provide more details? Where in Mexico? I've got some vacation time coming up! B)

I designed a system years ago for a client in Hawaii. We put PEX into the tennis courts to absorb heat for a very large pool. Worked like a champ. In your case, 800 sqft is not a lot of surface area. The pool you described would require just over 40,000btu per hour on a day with an average temperature of 70f and a target pool temperature of 85f assuming 12 hours of usable sunlight and zero wind. A 10 mile per hour wind takes it to slightly over 100,000btu per hour. If the hours of daylight are decreased the load goes up quickly.
