Heat pump turns off and stays off

hello I have a Daikin heat pump and it's running and shutting off randomly. The heat pump doesn't come back on once the temperature drops below what I have it set on the remote. In fact it will remain off until I press the remote. I changed the batteries a million times. Some times it won't come back on right away but the remote always says the power is on. Its been cleaned and the filters too. What's going on? When it works it works really great. But I  wake up to a cold house and I come home from work to a cold house. Most of the time. I leave it set to 22 to 24 c.

 No place for codes that I can see. There is nothing on the remote that suggests anything other than normal operation
