hot

Have an indirect water tank tied to Burnham boiler. Noticed the water in shower VERY hot...boiler has been working more (in Boston) today than normal. Had new Burnham block installed (replaced a cracked one) a month ago- wondering if boys may have tweaked a valve or something that may be feeding at a hotter rate.
Advice?

    Hey Mark,
We don't have enough information here to make a very accurate guess.
    Few things to check,
what temp is the aqua stat set to? (The gray box under the Danger sticker on your indirect)

do you have a 3-way mixing valve on top of the indirect tank?

Yes mixing valve, but even they have their limitiations. Hopefully your indirect isn't getting too hot. I wouldn't let it go above 150-160 if it's keeping up with demand.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

anti scald safeties require redundancy. Especially when children or old folk are around. If you want to get rich package a feed forward feedback combo and get it into codes.

  • Maybe there's no check valve on that circulator and you're getting gravity flow even though the pump is off.
    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

Not putting a flow check back would line up with what changed when the boiler was replaced.

Is there a flow check with a manual open lever/knob that was left open?
