My 37 year old pressure relief valve was installed horizontally (wrong) and all gunked up.
Installed a new one and put a proper skim port on it while I was at it.

pretty good. I'd get rid of the elbow so you can see the gunk getting floated out and have a better idea of the flow rate

That's what the Tee to the left of the valve is for. I can remove the plug on top to watch things float by.
Also a convenient port for adding chemicals if needed.0 -
