I need to add additional main venting capacity, meaning more vents to the ones I already have. As I searched for the type of pipe to use to connect the additional vents I come across different types of pipes, stainless steel, brass, and black pipe. I was wondering if you can give me your opinion on what the appropriate pipe material should be. Many thanks in advance.

Black iron or brass. Stainless i suppose would be ok too but the rest of it is black iron and that is the least expensive and just fine for the purpose.0

Great thank you. It is good to know that stainless is ok too because depending on where I shop that is what I find. The stainless steel I see can take temperatures from -100 to 660 degrees which I believe is adequate for any steam heat.0

Black steel, black iron whatever you call it is fine . No need for brass or stainless on air vents.......it will just cost you $$$$$$2
