Hello all,
I have a 10 year old Dunkirk steam boiler that has worked well with low maintenance. This year the poop has hit the fan. Here's the scenario in a nutshell.
H20 feeder will feed when the valve to purge is opened(normal). so it makes it seem low water cut off is working as it should right.
Well if you leave it alone and it cycles a couple of times overnight etc...water will get low and boiler WONT turn back on. you have to MANUALLY feed water via the feeder and boiler will kick right on.
Weird!! New low water cut off didn't help. Feeder works. Tech said boiler is super dirty at the bottom. can this be it?
Any ideas? If you solve this, Tequila bottle is the prize : )
thanks guys! cheers!

Low water cutoff cuts off the boiler? Sounds as if. But doesn't activate the feeder? Sounds as if. And sounds more like a wiring problem...Br. Jamie, osb

Was the probe changed or cleaned?0

You have a problem with the low water cut off/feeder.
But more important where is all the water going? If you or the feeder are putting to much water in the water side of the boiler will be all sludged up.
How can a boiler go low on water overnight?
You need to look for leaks and overfill the boiler to test the boiler1
