The Model K Mystery
In this episode, Dan Holohan tells about a Manhattan co-op apartment building, where the local time (mechanically speaking) is 1949, the heat is uneven, and the radiators hold an historic clue.

saw that one coming! But a great tale anyway! Hoffman equipped radiator valves have a similar adjustment inside, and I think some others do to. Harder to get at than the Model K, though!Br. Jamie, osb

Thanks for sharing Dan. I worked on a job a few years back to install TRVs and Orifices (custom drilled to size - that was my job) to a 700 radiator co-op here in Queens, NYC. Shout out to CK and HG if they're listening.1-pipe Homeowner - Queens, NYC

Finally solved the mystery as to why my two-pipe system does not have traps!! I have the Hoffman No. 7 Valves that work similarly to the Model K. It's an adjustable orifice. If anyone has them and they aren't working properly, this video is an excellent video for step by step instructions on restoring them. There are two videos on these valves as there were two main versions with slight differences in build. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NteDQtbL8qU&list=PLlPJg84wqAvsYicw7WaKL2bj3curx0SEd&index=11

Love that story.
Never saw a type K system.
I worked on many small and 2 large jobs where Dunham orficed radiator valves were installed. These buildings at the time were 20 plus years old and had over heated and under heated rooms. Fortunately I was able to get orifice schedules from Dunham and resolve the the heating problems in the offending rooms.
