one pipe/two pipe

So my question is this.. Is it possible to have a combination of a 1 pipe and two pipe steam heating system? I have about half my radiators that have the typical vent but then have a bunch that are recessed in the wall that appear to have no vent, however on the inside bottom opposite the valve there is what appears to be a large nut. I am not sure what this is and am also puzzled that these radiators don't have vents like the others do....

Picture picture pictures. We have to have pictures.
In answer to your question, though, yes, it's perfectly possible to have a mix of one pipe and two pipe radiators. It's a bit of a bear to balance, but there's no reason why it won't work.Br. Jamie, osb

Just look and see how many pipes are connected to each radiator, it will either be 1 or 2 and yes pictures are a big help0
