Something new?

This is probably from the makers of the 200 mpg carburetor:

There is no free lunch... at some point in the cycle, one is going to have to add some energy to rejuvenate the molecular sieves. They seem to be a little coy about that.

One might compare the whole concept with the gas fired ammonia adsorption refrigerators.

Wasn't gas central air conditioning somewhat common in it's early days (like up to the 50's)?

I was thinking about solar powered absorbtion air conditioning the other day.

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

"The base MSRP for a 20,000 BTU/hr system with four in home heat exchangers is estimated at $10,000."

    Yikes.

Arkla made absorbtion airconditioning/heating units they were pushed by the gas company back in the 60s.

They used ammonia for refrigerant and the units are extremely heavy for there tonnage. They were a combination water chiller/hot water heating unit. They ran an open system and you had to use glycol as they are located outdoors.

Now the name is "Robur" and they are still made.

I installed a couple of these back in the 90s

If you had to break into or work on the sealed ammonia system they were a nightmare

How would that work at night?

    Electric or gas heater.
