lower boiler water ph

What is the best agent to lower ph inBurnham Independence Steam boiler? Using Rectorseal 8-way boiler treatment in my boiler water, my ph is 10 to 11. Seeking 9.5. Looking for a long term, long lasting ph lowering agent. Some say vinegar, I am all in if it is long lasting. Thanks.

You don't need to add anything to lower it. Just add less 8-way to keep it from going so high.

8-way like all the treatment makers, overstate how much to use (just like shampoo: wash, rinse, repeat) in order to sell more treatment.

Measure the ph of your tap water to see what it starts out as, then try draining like 1/4 of your boiler water and refilling then see where you are at.

When I add 8-way after a full flush (rare), I start with 1/4 of what they say to add, then I bump it up after that until I'm at the ph I want.

    You got that right!!
If you over shoot the desired PH, drain some water and add fresh water to the boiler until you reach 8.5 to 9 ph.

excessive ph can cause a sudsing in the boiler which will cause an unstable water line.

And as I know Jake knows, it's not just the waterline--it also causes what you see in my profile pic!
