Why does my boiler have bad surging at start up, but as it goes the surging in minimal

At start up it is horrible, sometimes triggering the LWO, but as the cycle continues it bobs minimally. What are your thoughts, thank you

Is this a new installation? Even if it’s not was it skimmed when it was installed?0

1 year old, it’s was skimmed last year0

I would suspect oil on the water or dirty water, or water with too high a ph level (too many additives) or too high a water level, or an overfired boiler or a combination.
I would guess that at first the boiler is throwing water into the main(s) and after it does that a bit the water level goes down and things settle down.
Check those items and worst cast you can rule them out.
Also post pictures that are such that each one shows the boiler area from floor to ceiling, and take shots from several angles. The near boiler piping may be involved.NJ Steam Homeowner.
