A new product ( to me anyway).

Just bought a product called Tempstick, made by Ideal Sciences. it is a battery powered thermometer that will report an alert to your phone or email. It monitors temperatures on an hourly basis ( or more frequently if required) and stores the record. Since it reports via my internet router there is no monthly service fee and no add ons that you need to buy.
I bought mine so that when we visit the south (grandkids) over the holidays I can monitor the hydronics, make sure there is no danger of it freezing. It will email me a warning if the temp goes below 40 deg F, so I can call my tech and have him check out the problem. It is programmable and has a good feature set.
It occurs to me that it would be a great tool for both homeowners and techs. For example you could hang one on a boiler or manifold and get accurate reports of temps and cycling frequency for example, saving quite a bit of travel time.
