Utica boiler PEG187CDE leaking from inside must refill every 3hrs

So I have the above mentioned Utica boiler in which does not refill, and apparently leaks from the Inside as there is no water on the ground. The return line around basement is new, when boiler is on you can hear water drops sizzle as it hits the burner(s). After 2- 3 hours i have to go back down and refill the boiler back to the appropriate water lin S start the process all over again. Was told I need a new boiler. Is that the only answer Tom the problem or am i being taken for a fool for not knowing much? Note: when I fill up the boiler (to appropriate level) and it’s not on for heating it holds the water and does not leak. Totally lost please help...anyone?

Does sound like you have a hole above the water line of the boiler. You can test this by flooding the boiler filling it above the boiler. If you notice water dripping by the burner tubes then your boiler needs to be replaced.2

I filled it up above water line and nothing BUT filled it up to the point the entire water line tube is full and it began to leak by the burner tubes- it was more than expected. Replacement not repair?0

@Steamhead Im located in Northern New Jersey. All I recall from plumber long ago was being told I have 172k btu and should get an equivalent when ever getting a boiler, low and behold I need one. Any recommendations of brand, used, new, etc? @EzzyT your input would be great as well.0

@RoRo you can private message me or call me at 201-887-8856 to set up an appointment for us to give you a detailed estimate on a proper sized and piped boiler.0

Your leak is above the water line so the water is leaking out up the flue as steam.0

And if I may add my two cents worth -- @EzzyT is one of the best in the business. Go for it.Br. Jamie, osb
