@Gordy , I just don't look to him for scientific validation of anything, especially the environment. Yes we have just been here for a short period of time but we don't need to be here as long as the planet to do irreversible damage. I mean, at least in my mind, there is no correlation between the age of the planet and what one does to it, in a day, a year, a century or whatever.

    Very true.

All I can say about this is that Bob Vila is and always has been a bad source of technical information. He is just a TV celebrity. The Kardashians know about as much as Bob.

I watched as much as I could stand of Mr Rutan's video. He may have been a great engineer at some point in his life. It might be time to get him in for a CAT scan. He is grasping at straws.

Yes, Vila is a showman, not a technical authority.

Burt Rutan is simply looking at all of the available data, not cherry picking it as is the norm in the global warming crowd. Watching only part of his video is not surprising since global warming believers only look at part of the data.

The reality is that the earth has been much, much warmer in the past that it is today and that was long before we were burning fossil fuels to any significant degree.

If you want to understand the global warming movement you need only follow the money...

I turned it off after he smugly linked the increased CO2 levels to increased crop production. He went on the say that no other advances occurred in agriculture during period. I think that Monsato and there genetic mutation of our food supply should get the credit/blame for that one.

I have been following the money. Independent scientists have done factual research. Oil companies and industry promote this make belief nonsense. Which one is making money?

A lot of people are making money, especially the “independent” scientists. Look who funds their research grants.

I used to have a chart comparing the different fuels but the fact is you don't know what you are getting for Btu/hr, we know @ what, for instance a cubic foot of natural gas may give 950-1050 btu/hr, a gallon of #2 oil may give 135-142,000 btu/hr because the products vary in quality.

But for the record out of the equivalents to a gallon as I remember the chart it stated that
    1 gallon of #2 = 140,000 btu/hr
    1 gallon of LP = 98,000 btu/hr
    1 gallon of NG = 96,000 btuhr

But don't worry, the major energy corporations have the prices controlled through the Commodities Market so you aren't going to get ahead either way.

    I don't know.

In my opinion the only times it matters is if you're engineering a system or trying to compare fuel costs.

An LPG boiler produces its rated btu output just as good as an oil fired boiler. Sometimes better if service is lacking.
