Automatic Flue/Vent Damper

This unit no longer works automatically so I have set it to open all the time. I have a one pipe steam system. Will this cause any problems besides a slight increase in heat loss through the flue?

No. Just lock the blessed thing open and leave it be. Better yet, assuming that this is oil, have it taken out and install a good barometric damper and have the draught properly adjusted.Br. Jamie, osb
