I'm thinking of converting to gas after this season and after doing some research, my current boiler, New Yorker CL4-175 can be converted by using Becket CG4 addon. I have steam heat for 1st and 2nd, hot water for basement

Is CG4 any good or should I go for something else?
Also, any recommendation on a contractor who can convert this on Long Island? I have a gas line.

Thanks

    The CG 4's work just fine, this one's in Farmingdale.

    Page 4 of the installation manual states this;
    This boiler is designed to burn No. 2 fuel oil only. Do not use gasoline, crankcase drainings, or any oil containing gasoline. Never burn garbage or paper in this boiler. Do not convert to any solid fuel (i.e. wood, coal). Do not convert to any gaseous fuel (i.e. natural gas, LP). All flammable debris, rags, paper, wood scraps, etc., should be kept clear of the boiler at all times. Keep the boiler area clean and free of fire hazards.

    Yet another U.S. Boiler Company CYA note.

    When converting an approved oil boiler to natural gas or LP gas the manufacturer that does not allow converting oil boiler to gas Who takes liability.
    Will Carlin or any other gas conversion burner company take liability if something goes wrong. The boiler manufacturer walks away because they tell you do not burn anything but fuel oil.
    I also believe you need to have your chimney cleaned and an aluminum or SS chimney liner should be installed.

    It will work just fine but US Boiler doesn't approve conversion burners in any of their oil products which means no town or village inspector will pass it. Which means no CO. Now what?

    Or the insurance company when god forbid something goes wrong and they refuse to pay the claim!
